The Second Annual Caribbean Yoga Conference: A Celebration of Sun, Seva and Sangha will take place at the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa in Montego Bay, Jamaica, from January 31 until February 3, 2013. Pre-conference immersion sessions and a post-conference service retreat will focus on bringing awareness and advocacy around serving the underserved; these will be held January 28-31 and February 3-8 at Jake’s Resort in Treasure Beach, Jamaica. The conference will feature workshops, seminars, a children’s CircusYoga program, and music events led by Elena Brower, Faith Hunter, Kia Miller, Tommy Rosen, Rootz Underground, and others.
Now in its second year, the Caribbean Yoga Conference will bring people together from around the world, who are inspired by the power of yoga, eager to celebrate our planet, and dedicated to creating a vibrant, global community of practitioners from all walks of life.
[. . .] “The practice of yoga has been performed by many on our island for years,” said John Lynch, Jamaica’s Director of Tourism in partnership with Conference sponsor the Jamaica Tourist Board. “The Caribbean Yoga Conference was successful in accomplishing its goals last year, and we look forward to welcoming even more yogis to the 2013 event. The conference is a fitting addition to the island’s calendar of events and demonstrates the diversity of our health and wellness offerings.”
The CYC aims to bring attention to Jamaica’s underserved communities and economically disadvantaged individuals by establishing give-back programs in partnership with the not-for-profit organization Karma Krew, including granting interested participants attendance who would otherwise not be able to afford it.
