The Dominican Society of Bibliophiles Announces the VI Antique and Rare Book Fair

The Dominican Society of Bibliophiles (SDB) announces that the VI Exhibition of Antique and Rare Books will be held in the Dominican Republic on December 14 to 16, 2012. The president of the SDB, Nick Mariano, reported that the event will take place at the headquarters of the institution, at 106 Las Damas Street in colonial Santo Domingo.

During the exhibition, the only of its kind in the Dominican Republic, visitors will be able to appreciate works over 700 years old, miniature books, and other peculiar tomes. Intellectuals, writers, journalists, researchers, students, and the general public will have the opportunity to appreciate texts and documents from other historical periods.

In addition to the exhibitions at the fair, attendees will be able to purchase authentic literary gems and enjoy performances and cultural exchange. Mella emphasized that “This fair is an opportunity for owners and collectors of books and ancient texts to acquire or make available to the public items that have an invaluable historical and cultural value.”
