The Jamaica Observer reports that Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz have fought their way into the top 50 ranked football teams in the latest FIFA rankings. The Boyz jumped two places to 50th after qualifying for the final round of the CONCACAF qualifying tournament last month.
Jamaica is the highest ranked Caribbean team followed by Haiti in 57th position. Spain, Germany, Argentina, Portugal and Italy occupy the top five spots in that order.
Trinidad is the third-ranked Caribbean team, followed by the Dominican Republic, which is 92nd in the world. St Kitts and Nevis has now reached 106th in the world and fourth overall in the Caribbean. Antigua and Barbuda, which recently lost to the United States, fell 15 spots in November’s list.
