Caribbean art, music and dance will be on display Saturday at Hollywood’s ArtsPark as part of the Colors of the Caribbean celebration, Carli Teproff reports in The Miami Herald.
Put together by the Caribbean American Heritage Florida, Inc., The Rhythm Foundation, Hollywood and Hollywood’s Community Rede- velopment Agency,
The event, celebrating 50 years of independence for Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago, will feature calypso star David Rudder and reggae legend Marcia Griffiths.
Haitian visual artist Roland Mecklembourg will display his “Universal Xplosion of Heart” exhibit in the ArtsPark Gallery.
There will also be a Caribbean Airlines travel expo; kids zone, Caribbean food village, Caribbean alcohol tasting experience, arts and crafts and cultural performances.
Participating nations include Bahamas, Antigua & Barbuda, St. Kitts and Nevis, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Guyana, Dominican Republic, Barbados, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago.
The event, which will run from 4 to 11 p.m. at the park, U.S. 1 and Hollywood Boulevard, is free.
