Urban Heartbeat, a regional project featuring artists from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, will come to Jamaica in February/March 2012. Together with German painter Jim Avignon they create a mural in a public space in each participating country, followed by an after party.
Description: Organized by the German Embassy and the Jamaican-German Society, Urban Heartbeat seeks to identify Jamaican artists who are looking for a challenge and some international exposure. All urban artists, designers, muralists, illustrators, cartoonists are invited to participate by sending in their proposals. The winning designs will be posted on walls in the streets of all the countries the organization visits, inspiring the imagination of local artists to blend their work with winning artists, giving rise to something new, a unique fusion of styles. Artists in Jamaica will create an art space within a neighbourhood using the designs made by artists from the other nations.
