Le papillon et la lumière (Ed. Philippe Rey, 2011) is the latest publication by leading Martinican thinker and writer Patrick Chamoiseau. The book is beautifully illustrated by Ianna Andréadis.
Description: A philosophical tale that questions the meaning of a life devoid of risk. A young moth stays away from the burning lamp posts and thus saves his life. But he feels that a fundamental experience escapes him. He opens up to an older moth with equally intact wings. The latter takes him on an initiatory journey through the city, first at night, and then at dawn, towards the sun. Because true light is
found where we least expect it.
