It is time once again for the Wellfleet’s yearly fundraising event for Atis Famn Matènwa [The Artists of Matènwa] in Haiti. The Merci D’Avance Dance [Thanks in Advance Dance] is a collective effort to raise funds to support the rural community of Matènwa in Haiti. [Also see previous post RaRa and the Women Artists of Matènwa, Haiti.] This year, the dance will take place on November 12, 2011, beginning at 7:00pm at Wellfleet Preservation Hall, located at 335 Main Street, Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
The guest of honor will be Arielle Berrick, who spent two years collaborating with the artists of Matènwa to help rebuild and expand their families’ damaged homes after the ravages of the earthquake. Her work brought hope and jobs to the Matènwa community.
The event includes a raffle, a silent auction, a live auction, a photo display, a slide presentation on what’s new in Matènwa, new works by the artists, and live dance music provided by “The Rips it Up.” There will be a cash bar, light fare, and a raw bar by Wellfleet Bay Oyster Co. $10 at the door includes 2 raffle tickets.
Atis Famn Matènwa headquarters in the U.S. is located at 100 West Main Street (#7), Wellfleet, Massachusetts.
