|The value of the Third Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase as a genuine space and a reflection of diversity was highlighted at the inauguration of the event by Travis Weeks, one of its organizers.
He said that the exhibition also expresses the unity of culture in the Caribbean in the animation of their production of films and videos.
Weeks extolled the development of the Cuban film industry since the triumph of its Revolution, and Cuban Ambassador Lydia Gonzalez highlighted the happy coincidence of celebrations in October -the month of Saint Lucia’s culture and Cuban culture (Oct.20.)
The Third Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase is organized jointly with the regional UNESCO Office, the Cuban Embassy in Saint Lucia and the French Alliance, the main venue of the event.
It has toured already most of the Caribbean territories, with previous displays in Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Belize, Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Jamaica, Barbados, Dominica, St. Kitts and Nevis, and Trinidad and Tobago.
Motion pictures by more than 15 filmmakers on behalf of the peoples of the area have been present in this tour.
The First Travelling Caribbean Film Showcase reached 19 nations of our region, and the second toured 27 countries in the insular and continental Caribbean, according to organizers.
