In Paris, the 78th edition of the Montmartre Fête des Vendanges [Montmartre Grape Harvest Feast] celebrates the Overseas Departments from October 5 to 9, 2011. Laurent Voulzy and Jocelyne Beroard sponsor the event, which this year pays tribute not only to the islands but also to Henri Salvador (French Guiana, 1917).
The memory of Henri Salvador would reign over this celebration. Among the many events, there will be two photo exhibitions—”Salvador on Stage” and “Friends of Henri”—that will trace the trajectory of the artist at the Museum of Montmartre. In addition, Louise Michel Square will host a concert tribute to Henri Salvador on Sunday, October 9 at 3:00pm, in which artists will interpret his songs. Many artists from Martinique and Guadeloupe will participate, including Marijosé Alie, Colonel Reyel, FM Laeti, Stevy Mahy, and sponsors Jocelyne Beroard with the song “Atann” and Laurent Voulzy with the song “Dans mon île.”
To celebrate the islands and the Overseas Departments, 400 representatives of the Carnaval Tropical de Paris will bring the colors and the music of the Caribbean through the streets of Monmartre.
Other events include “Kakophonies” (a dance performance by the company Difé-kako), workshops to learn how to dance zouk, a singles zouk dance party, and a concert by Érol Josué.
