Camilo Rojas and Virginia Lavado’s “Vade Mecum” [Come with Me] will open on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at The Re Institute. The artists’ reception will take place from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The Re Institute is located at 1395 Boston Corners Road in Millerton, New York.
Camilo Rojas will show a series of manipulated photographs, drawing, and videos on the process of building your own creative space. Rojas born in Caracas, Venezuela; after teaching at Pratt Institute and the School of Visual Arts for several years in 1991 he became the chair of the Communications and Media Arts program at Dutchess Community College.
Virginia Lavado will show a series of large format drawings based on the symbolism of some mythical animals, exploring the magical and the sexual, the subversive and the emotional in our unconscious minds. Born in Caracas, Venezuela, she holds a BA in fine arts from Pratt Institute. She publishes books for children and is doing freelance work for the Brooklyn Children Museum and the Manhattan Children Museum.
