The Cubaney Centenario was selected by the Beverage Testing Institute (BTI) of Chicago as the best rum produced in the Dominican Republic, and one of the world´s best 10. With a score of 94 points on a scale of 100, the rum, described as an exceptional drink, received the Institute´s prestigious gold medal. The Cubaney Centenario is produced by Oliver & Oliver, a company with facilities outside Santo Domingo.
Other Dominican winners were the Opthimus XO -also produced by Oliver& Oliver, which came in second place; Matusalen 18, in third place; and Barceló Imperial in fourth.
Tastings.com describes the Cubaney Centenario: “Rich mahogany color. Dense aromas and flavors of banana crème brulée, chocolate covered cherry, sandalwood incense, and toasted pistachio with a supple, oily fruity medium body and a long root beer, dried fruit, and polished wood accented finish. A nice fruity sweet, aged sipping rum.”
