New Solar Technology Testing in Jamaica

Jamaica has approved preliminary research and experimentation by GreenRG Management LLC’s (Green RG) new solar technology for the island on a pilot basis. Minister for Information, Telecommunications and Special Projects, Daryl Vaz, said the company has volunteered to test new solar technology for streetlights, buildings, water pumps and other infrastructure at no cost to the Government of Jamaica.

“The agreement with Green RG is intended to facilitate a pilot project, “that will be supportive of the Government’s focus on increasing the use of alternative, affordable energy sources, as articulated in the National Energy Policy 2009-2030 and First Action Plan 2009-2012,” he said. Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Green RG will also be required to effect and provide reports of audits of the piloted energy technological systems every six months to the Government of Jamaica. The company will also be required to register the patents for its technology in Jamaica and share its carbon credits with the Government of Jamaica. “Cabinet approved the inclusion in the MoU, of a provision for indemnity to the Government of Jamaica and the Department of Local Government for incidents of pilferage of the equipment,” Minister Vaz added.

GreenRG is an energy management company in the United States of America, which created and own proprietary and patented technology, including protocols, products and solutions for an energy saving system.
