The Forest Conservation Fund Photography Competition

Yardedge‘s Karin Wilson reminds us that the Forest Conservation Fund (FCF) is running a photography competition in Jamaica in honor of the International Year of Forests 2011. The deadline is October 21, 2011.

The overarching theme is “Forests for People” and the suggested topics to be explored are: forest conservation activities; threats to Jamaica’s forests; Jamaica’s coastal forests; forests and sustainable livelihoods in Jamaica; and flora or fauna of Jamaica’s forests. A maximum of five images may be submitted per participant. The work may be emailed to forestconservationfund@gmail.com.

The FCF is part of the Jamaica Protected Areas Trust Limited (JPAT), which is a public-private initiative that seeks to protect and enhance Jamaica’s natural resources and biodiversity.

The Forest Conservation Fund was established pursuant to the Tropical Forest Conservation Act (TFCA) of 1998 which was enacted to offer eligible developing countries to relieve identified official debt owed to the United States of America while at the same time generating funds to support local tropical forest conservation activities

You may contact FCF at Protected Areas Trust/Forest Conservation Fund, Suite 201, 72b Hope Road or by phone at (876) 927-9956 and (876) 978-2927.
