Thanks, Yesenia

Our research assistant, Yesenia Llanos, has just graduated from Marist College with a double major in criminal justice and Spanish, with a minor in psychology. Originally from San Juan, Puerto Rico, when her family moved to the U.S. in 2001, Yesenia quickly adapted to a new language and culture; she shows this determination in all her endeavors. After gaining experience in the work arena, she will pursue graduate studies in Social Work. In the future, she hopes to fulfill her dream of opening a rehabilitation center for adolescents and women who have been affected by domestic violence.

Although Yesenia was only with us for one semester—since January 2011—her energetic approach and language skills in Spanish and English were a great help for keeping Repeating Islands up-to-date. We appreciate her dedication and keen interest in Caribbean cultural developments.

Please join us in wishing her the best of luck.
