Caribbean Reporters Dubbed “Fearless Five” for Coverage of Haiti

A United States hotel company, Choice Hotels International, along with American Airlines, the Association of Caribbean Media Workers, and the Caribbean Media Exchange, has described a team of Caribbean reporters who recently traveled to Haiti—hailed as the “Fearless Five”—as “journalistic bright lights” who must be commended for their coverage of the country’s traumatic events, especially since January 2010’s crippling earthquake.

Regional Vice President of Brand Performance and Programs of the company, Bill Clegg, said, “Haiti, the Caribbean and the world are richer following the excellent reports” delivered through traditional and social media networks by Anika Kentish and Marcella André, of Observer Radio in Antigua; Julia Johnson, of Guyana’s Prime News; freelance reporter Maria Fontenelle, of St. Lucia; and correspondent Clare Forrester, of Jamaica.
