Film Premiere: Sonia Fritz’s “America”

America, based on the novel America’s Dream, by Esmeralda Santiago, will have an outdoor screening at the Conde de Mirasol Fort in Vieques, Puerto Rico, on Friday, March 11, 2011, at 7:00pm. The cast will be present; the screening will be free and open to the public.

America was shot in Vieques last year with Edward James Olmos, Lymari Nadal, Rachel Ticotin, and Frank Peroso.  A woman, America, breaks away from an abusive husband after her teenage daughter runs off with her boyfriend. She tries to rebuild her life working as a nanny for a New York family. Directed by Sonia Fritz, the film premiered tonight in several theaters on the island.

  1. I have not seen the movie yet but the trailer looks great. I just have to question what is that part where they talk about passports being from Puerto Rico?
