AfroCubismo was selected by National Geographic as the Best World Music Album of 2010. Produced by the English label World Circuit and in Mexico by Discos Cora-Són, it is the original project of the Buena Vista Social Club.
For 14 years, attempts were made to bring together musicians from Cuba and Mali, but the latter were not able to make it. The result was Buena Vista Social Club. Now they have returned to the original project, with participants including guitarist and singer Eliades Ochoa, Toumani Diabaté (kora), Bassekou Kouyate (n’goni), and Djelimady Tounkara (guitar), and Malians Kasse Mady Diabaté (singer) and Lassana Diabaté (balafón).
