Trinidad and Tobago Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar brought joy and gifts yesterday to hundreds of children who attended the second installment of her Children’s Christmas Party at the Larry Gomes Stadium in Malabar, Arima.
Persad-Bissessar, dressed in a red dress and a white jacket complete with a Santa hat, hugged and greeted many children before handing out gifts. She addressed the crowd and thanked all the corporate sponsors, non-governmental organizations, and individual donors who contributed to the event: “The individuals who gave up their time, their labor; they spent money to help us buy the toys because we didn’t take any money from the taxpayers [or] from the Treasury; everything was donated.” She also encouraged the children and other people in the audience to thank the contributors.
Persad-Bissessar said, “While we give you a treat today and give you a toy we ask you to share the love and the spirit of goodwill this season.” She ended her address by repeating her mantra “See good, be good, do good and good will follow you.”
