As part of its Conferencias Caribeñas 7 lecture series for the 2010-2011 academic year, the Institute of Caribbean Studies, of the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras (UPR-RP), invites the academic community and the general public to the lecture “Dominicanas: Antitrujillistas y exiliadas” [the previously announced panel “Memoria y exilio en Puerto Rico durante la era de Trujillo (1930-1961)” [Memory and Exile in Puerto Rico during the Trujillo Era] has been canceled.
“Dominicanas: Antitrujillistas y exiliadas” by Dr. Myrna Herrera Mora (Department of Social Sciences, Inter American University of Puerto Rico-Arecibo) focuses on women who took part in a resistance movement against dictator Rafael Leonidas Trujillo (1930-1961) of the Dominican Republic, some of which continued their struggles while living in exile in Puerto Rico. Dr. Miguel A. Fornerín (Department of Hispanic Studies, UPR-Cayey) will serve as commentator. The activity will be held on today, October 19, from 1:00 to 3:00pm in Amphitheatre CRA 108 (Carmen Rivera de Alvarado) Building, School of the Social Sciences, Puerto Rico-Río Piedras.
