Ballet Teatro Nacional de Puerto Rico continues the celebration of its 5th anniversary with “Huellas de María Julia” [Traces of María Julia], a tribute to María Julia Landa, prima ballerina in the 1980s and 90s in Puerto Rico. Performances will take place on September 25 and 26 at the Antonio Paoli Room at Luis A. Ferré Performing Arts Center.
Hailed by New York critics as a world class dancer, Landa garnered acclaim on national and international stages. She was an exquisite performer but was forced to stop dancing due to a serious back injury. She continues her work as a ballet teacher and distinguished choreographer in spite of her ongoing struggle with cancer. These performances honor Landa’s trajectory as well as her personal battle. The September 25 show will be a gala to benefit the Puerto Rican League against Cancer.
