Haiti’s young football team wins silver medal

Bolivia won the 2010 Youth Olympic gold medal in football by beating Haiti 5-0 in Singapore. Bolivia took the lead in the fifth minute from the tournament’s top scorer Rodrigo Mejido, who was later sent off. Despite going down to ten men, Bolivia scored a second nine minutes before half time, and took advantage of their dominance by strolling to a five goal win over their opponents.
Haiti’s football team was only formed six weeks before the tournament, and they were applauded for appearing in the tournament after an earthquake struck the country earlier this year. They lost their first match against Bolivia 9-0, before coming from behind to beat Vanuatu and earning second place in the three-team group. Bolivia won the group by beating both teams. In the other group, the hosts Singapore went through with an unbeaten record, while Montenegro went through second, with Zimbabwe exiting.
The semi-finals saw Bolivia score two quick goals in the second half to beat Montenegro 3-1, while Haiti beat Singapore 2-0 to set up a rematch of their group stage defeat in the final. The fifth place match saw Vanuatu overpower Zimbabwe, while the bronze medal match saw the hosts pick up a medal by beating Montenegro 4-1.
The final at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore saw Bolivia as heavy favourites, and this showed when they took the lead through Mejido. Haiti then picked up several yellow cards as they tried several malicious tackles on the Bolivian players to stop them going through on goal, before Mejido was sent off after elbowing a Haitian player in an incident off the ball. Both Haiti and Bolivia made more chances that came so close to changing the scoreline, but an easy tap-in after a free kick bounced off the post before half time left the score at 2-0.
Cristian Arano increased the lead in the second half, before Banegas scored two goals to wrap up a well deserved 5-0 victory for Bolivia, and rob Haiti of a fairytale ending to the 2010 Youth Olympic Games.

  1. bolivia used older players!
it has been made public by even bolivian authorities like the president of Santa Cruz coaches of Bolivia!

they should be taken off the medals and receive a very hard and example penalties for this!

this should be hardly discouraged and punished!

    whats going to happen!?
