Nationalist leader Dolores “Lolita” Lebrón Sotomayor was buried yesterday in the Santa María Magadalena de Pazzis Cemetery in Old San Juan. The burial followed a memorial ceremony at the Ateneo Puertorriqueño during which members of the Nationalist Party and the organization spoke about her contributions to the island’s fight for inpedendence from the United States. The ceremony was also attended by the vicepresident of the Government of Cataluña, Juseflluid Carod Rovira, in a manifestation of solidarity with the Independence movement. A mass for her eternal rest followed at San Juan’s Cathedral. The mourners, who filled the streets of Old San Juan, arrived at the cemetery for the burial ceremony around 4pm.
