Julian Marley to perform at One Love Festival

Julian Marley, son of the Legendary Bob Marley, has been confirmed to appear at London’s One Love Festival. Marley is said to have approached the One Love Festival expressing his interest in performing at this year’s event which celebrates his father’s famous 1978 One Love Concert. The One Love Festival Team has confirmed that Julian Marley will be playing an exclusive Saturday night set on the One Love Stage.
Marley, who shares his father’s talent, has devoted himself to a life in music, mastering a variety of instruments and writing songs that reflect his dedication to spiritual upliftment and social change. Three albums later Julian has toured the world, both as a solo performer backed by his Uprising Band and as a member of Ghetto Youths International, a musical collective whose core members are Julian and his brothers, Stephen and Damian. Stephen and Damian Marley have both contribute to his new album ‘Awake’ that Julian will perform with the Uprising Band at this year’s One Love Festival alongside some of his father’s classics in the spirit of his father Bob Marley.
Festival Organiser, Dan Wiltshire, commented, “One Love Festival is now in its 3rd year and is so honoured the Son of Bob Marley to not only acknowledge our festival but ask to perform has just blown me away. Julian will be representing his father memory and spirit at this year’s event. We originally put this event on to raise awareness of Bob Marley’s message 3 years later we actually have a Marley performing. It is something we could only have dreamed of and we feel truly honoured to have Julian Marley performing. It’s going to be a truly amazing and memorable show and we can’t wait!”
One Love Festival, created in recognition of the 30th anniversary of one of the world’s greatest ever rock gigs, Bob Marley’s famous 1978 One Love concert, held during a political civil war between the Jamaican Labour Party and the People’s National Party. It peaked during Marley & The Wailers’ performance of ‘Jammin’, when the singer joined the hands of political rivals, Michael Manley (PNP) and Edward Seaga (JLP) accompanied by a flash of lighting and clap of thunder. Following the concert the opposing factions having seen that their leaders weren’t hell bent on killing each other cooled down the conflict and eased the erupting civil war.
