A symposium in honor of the late professor emeritus Rex Nettleford, entitled “The Sage Has Come of Age,” will be taking place at the University of the West Indies-Mona in Mona, Jamaica on April 7-9, 2010.
The symposium will discuss Professor Nettleford’s vision on the edification of workers and share ideas for crafting strategies to help Jamaican and Caribbean workers’ move forward to achieve sustainable competitive advantages in their countries and the region.
The symposium will begin with an opening ceremony on Wednesday, April 7 at 6 pm, with guest speaker Professor Emeritus George Eaton. Other invited speakers at the symposium include Tony Bogues (Brown University), Rupert Lewis (UWI-Mona), Judith Wedderburn (social worker and activist), Jahlani Niaah (UWI-Mona), Lloyd Goodleigh (President, Jamaica Confederation of Trade Unions), Judith Soares (UWI-Mona) and Adrian Fraser (Heads, Open Campus-UWI). The event is organized by the Hugh Lawson Shearer Trade Union Education Institute, Open Campus, UWI and UWI, Mona Campus.
