ICS Lecture: The Rum War, Dilemmas of Industrial and Commercial Politics in Puerto Rico

The Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS) and the Association of Students of International Law of the University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras invite the academic community and the general public to the lecture entitled “La guerra del ron: dilemas de política industrial y comercial en Puerto Rico” [The Rum War: Dilemmas of Industrial and Commercial Politics in Puerto Rico] by Professor José Raúl Perales, (Latin American Program, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington, DC). The lecture will take place on Thursday, March 11, 2010, 4:30pm–6:00pm in Room 302, Law School, University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras.

José Raúl Perales is an advanced doctoral candidate in Political Science at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. His research focuses on Latin America, with particular emphasis on trade policy, domestic and international economic institutions, especially in Southern Cone, Brazil, Caribbean, and Central American political economy. He has been a visiting researcher at institutions in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, and France and has served as trade policy advisor to the government of Puerto Rico.
