TeatRum’s 2nd International Theater Festival is presenting adaptations of Francisco Font Acevedo’s short stories “La belleza bruta” [The Raw Beauty] and “La mirada de Cristal” [Crystal’s Gaze], from his collection La belleza bruta (2008). The theatrical adaptations will be performed this week at the “Teatrito” [small theater in the Chardón Building, Room 22) at the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez (RUM); performances on March 1, 2 and 3, 2010, at 8:00pm.
“The underground market, sex, art, beauty, and other daily elements of today’s life in Río Piedras” and double storylines of “two university students who use life as a laboratory for experimentation” are represented in these newly-staged pieces. Directed by María de los Angeles Díaz and Christopher J. Cancel, the adaptations were prepared by Díaz, Cancel, and Ricardo Magriñá. TeatRum is the theater group of the University of Puerto Rico-Mayagüez.
These theatrical performances are free and open to the public. For more information, write to teatrum@uprm.edu
