After a successful tour captivating both European and U.S. audiences in recent presentations, Martínez returns to the island.  Accompanied by orchestra, she will perform in a repertoire including arias by Mozart and the soprano role in the fourth movement (“Das himmlische Leben”) of the Fourth Symphony of Gustav Mahler, among other pieces.

The dramatic reach of Martínez, winner of a Grammy Award, makes her one of the most sophisticated lyric sopranos today. Her career has maintained an upward pace that has taken her to all the main opera houses in  the world—from  the Metropolitan Opera and Theater alla Scala of Milan to the London Royal Opera House, among others. The singer has also performed in important international festivals such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Salzburg Festspiel, the Baden-Baden Festspiel, the Santa Fe Opera Festival, the Ravinia Festival, the Casals Festival and the Glyndebourne Festival Opera.

Among her recordings, estimated at more than 20 productions, Ana María Martínez: Soprano Songs and Arias, a CD with the Filarmonía of Prague, was selected by Gramophone magazine as the “Publisher’s Choice.” In other productions, she has performed with Andrea Bocelli and Plácido Domingo.

After her performance in the Casals Festival, Martínez will be a soloist with the BBC Orchestra of London in Brahms’ German Requiem (Ein deutsches Requiem). She will play “Liù” in Turandot with the Opera of Holland in Ámsterdam, and afterwards she will end the season at the Festival of Ravinia as “Fiordiligi” in Così fan tutte, directed by James Conlon.
