Call for Participants: Confessional Literature Workshop I

Puerto Rico PEN Club president Mairym Cruz-Bernal announces the “Confessional Literature Workshop I” (28 sessions of a trip to your inner self) with emphasis on memoir, poetic prose, vignettes, essay, and poetry. This literary workshop will be held from March 24 to September 29, 2010.

The workshop sessions will be offered on Wednesdays from 7:30pm to 9:30pm in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Sessions will include exercises in creative writing, lectures, guest writers, and an individual monthly interview focused on the preparation of a creative piece for publication. Some of the themes to be discussed in workshop sessions are: the study of literature for understanding writing techniques; confessional and post-confessional literature; literature of evidence (poetry of witnessing); women’s literature (the word and the body); and themes such as fear, The Circus, Eros, and silence.
