Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic Carlos Morales Troncoso hailed the ongoing humanitarian operations of the Red Crescent Authority (RCA) in Haiti. He also held in high esteem the active field presence of the RCA as well as the efforts to activate the mechanisms of relief operations at all levels in coordination with the concerned international organizations and the Dominican Red Cross. This included the provision of support to the Dominican Ministry of Health, which continues to provide care and health services for Haitians brought to hospitals located on the border with Haiti.
The minister received a delegation sent by the RCA at the ministry’s headquarters where they discussed latest developments on the ground in light of efforts made by RCA’s relief team. Delegation Head Humaid Rashid Al Shamsi said that RCA is considering the launch of a field hospital, which is likely to be located somewhere in the suburbs of the capital, Port-au-Prince. He said that a second delegation from RCA will soon arrive to coordinate the implementation of the hospital on the latest possibilities that could enhance efforts to provide aid and health services and treatment for the injured victims.
