Pepón Osorio and Víctor Vázquez at Philagrafika 2010

Puerto Rican artists Pepón Osorio and Víctor Vázquez will be two of the participating artists in the 2010 Philagrafika event in Philadelphia celebrating print in contemporary art. The multi-venue event will take place from January 29 until April 11, 2010.

Osorio will be involved in the segment called “The Graphic Unconscious;” his installation work will be on view at the Pennsylvania Academy for the Fine Arts (PAFA) located at the Samuel M. V. Hamilton Building at 128 N. Broad Street in Philadelphia. Vázquez will be part of the “Independent Projects” segment of the exposition. His work will be on view at Seraphim Gallery as part of the collective exhibition, “Printable.”  The exhibition will focus on new and interesting ways the printing process can be pushed in the modern area.

Involving more than 300 artists at more than 80 venues throughout the city, Philagrafika 2010 will be one of the largest art events in the United States and the world’s most important print-related exposition. The festival is divided into 3 components: “The Graphic Unconscious,” the core exhibition, featuring installations and other works by 35 artists from 18 countries; “Out of Print,” which pairs five artists in “conversation” with five historic institutions in Philadelphia; and “Independent Projects,” which, organized by seventy-five additional cultural institutions, will present a huge variety of monographic, group, and thematic exhibitions in which the printed image plays a central role.
