British historian Antonia Fraser has written a tell-all book about her love affair (and subsequent life) with Nobel Prize winning novelist, the recently deceased Harold Pinter. Excerpts from the book, Must You Go? My Life with Harold Pinter (published by Widenfeld & Nicolson) appeared yesterday in the Daily Mail. The excerpt included a small anecdote about a lunch with V. S. Naipaul and his wife Pat in the middle of the scandal that ensued when the Fraser-Pinter romance became public. It is short but amusing, so here it is in all its brevity:
Vidia [author VS Naipaul] and Pat to lunch. A great success. I see how much Vidia and Harold have in common: they discuss anger like one might discuss a taste for port.
