Wyclef Jean Wins the Chiuku Award

MTV Latin America and the Pan American Development Foundation (PADF), with Western Union, will confer the Chiuku Award to singer Wyclef Jean. The award ceremony will take place in Port-au-Prince on December 19, 2009.

This honor is part of the “Agent of Change” initiative; it recognizes Jean’s charitable works in Haiti. The distinction is inspired by a character created by the MTV Latin America station that seeks to connect influential people that are seen as agents of change in their communities.  The Chiuku Award will be given to the singer on Monday at the Hotel Karibe for his notable work through the Yélé Haiti organization. Yélé Haiti is an NGO that contributes to the country through long-term sustainable projects.
