Carmen Centeno Añeses’ Desde el margen y el Caribe [From the Margin and the Caribbean] will be launched at the Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean in Old San Juan on December 9, 2009 at 7:00pm. Writer and critic Luis Felipe Díaz will present the book.
Desde el margen y el Caribe (2009) is a collection of critical work that situates itself from the standpoint of the margins to offer interdisciplinary readings on literature from a Caribbean perspective. Through a broad Caribbean lens, Centeno Añeses’ explores Puerto Rican literature with an emphasis on essayistic works of the Hispanic Caribbean. It has been described as an indispensable text to understand authors such as Marta Aponte Alsina, Magali García Ramis, and Luis Rafael Sánchez, as well as discussions on national identity in Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic.
