As part of the 5th Meeting of Creators from Manatí [Quinto Encuentro de Creadores Manatieños], sponsored by the Cultural Promotion Program of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP), new book Del secreto al destello [From the Secret to the Spark] will be launched. Del secreto al destello is an anthology that gathers six theatrical pieces written by Puerto Rican writer Pedro Juan Ávila Justiniano. It will be presented on Thursday, October22, 2009, at 7:00pm in the Salón de los Poetas Manuel Joglar Cacho (an exhibition hall honoring Manatí’s poets and artists) located on McKinley Street, Paseo de la Atenas, in Manatí, Puerto Rico.
This anthology includes “Entre miserias vuelan los sueños,” “Hay un grito en mis huellas,” “La memoria del olvido,” “Asedio delirante,” “El rastro del delirio,” and a play for children, “Juan Bobo y los Reyes Magos.”
Pedro Juan Ávila Justiniano (Manatí, 1941) is a poet, director, and professor of Spanish and drama at the American University in Manatí. He has published four poetry collections. He is presently working on a short story collection based. He has received several awards for poetry and drama, including one from the Puerto Rico Atheneum in 1991 and the Institute of Puerto Rican Literature in 2003.
