An exhibit at the Museum of Belize called “Communicating through Art” traces the roots of storytelling through art – from paintings on cave ceilings and walls, to hieroglyphics to cartoons. The curator, Shauniece Heusner, calls it “a virtual time line from pre-historic days. We are presenting human art through story telling. We start at cave painting days and then on to historic art, the Europeans, the wood cut and then on to the current days. We focused on Belizean cartoonists and comics. It was Ms. Lita Krohn’s idea. She wants to present Belizean Cartoonists for foreigners and Belizeans to appreciate their work.”
The exhibit, which opened on September3, will run to the end of December.
