The 5th National Meeting of Poets of Puerto Rico 2010 extends an invitation to poets and visual artists for their participation in an island-wide celebration of poetry from March 4 to May 6, 2010. This gathering of poets and events will be dedicated to the late José María Lima (1934-2009) and Yvan Silén (1944).
This event, planned and coordinated by Néstor Barreto, Elizam Escobar, Teo Freytes, Ángel Luis Méndez, and Esteban Valdés, proposes to “cover the island with verses and iconography,” to encourage people to use any medium possible to produce images and poetry inspired by Lima and Silén. For three months there will also be poetry readings held on every Thursday in different venues throughout the island.
Néstor Barreto and Teo Freytes will oversee an interactive space to document the poetic manifestations of the first decade of the 21st century, providing news, announcements, and art work (including posters and stamp art) related to this event.
