New Book: El corazón en huelga

A new collection of poetry by Salvador Villanueva, El corazón en huelga, will be launched on Wednesday, September 6, 2009 at 7:00pm. The book will be presented by Alfredo Hernández Pabón, followed by reading by the poet. The launch will tale place at the Theater of the Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean, 52 Calle Del Cristo, Old San Juan.

Salvador Villanueva (1947) was born in Arecibo, Puerto Rico. He has produced five poetry collections— Poemas en alta tensión (1974), Expulsado del paraíso (1981), Fin (1987), La comatosa noche/Libro de los delirios (1989), and his latest, El corazón en huelga (2009). He is co-founder of two journals, Ventana and En el país de los tuertos, and has also published poetry under the pseudonyms Ricardo Garúa and Arturo Cadalso. Villanueva’s poetry is included in Inventing a Word: An Anthology of Twentieth Century Puerto Rican Poetry (1980), Antología de poesía puertorriqueña. Tomo IV. Contemporánea (1993), and Literatura puertorriqueña del siglo XX (2004).
