Symposium: Canada and the Cuban Revolution
This symposium is sponsored by the Joint Canadian Studies Program at the Institute for the Study of the Americas and the Institute for Commonwealth Studies, the Caribbean Studies Program at the Institute for the Study of the Americas, and the International Institute for the Study of Cuba at London Metropolitan University. It will be held from 2:15pm to 6:00pm on Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Council Chamber, Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, 17 Russell Square, London WC1B.
The keynote speaker for this event is John Kirk (Dalhousie University), who will speak on “Reflections on Canada-Cuba Relations Since 1959.” Other participants include Lana Wylie (McMaster University), Cynthia Wright (York University, Toronto), Emily Morris (Senior Research Fellow, International Institute for the Study of Cuba), and Raul Rodríguez (University of Havana).
The symposium chair is Phillip Buckner (Research Fellow, ISA and ICS) and the convenors are Philip Buckner, Kate Quinn (ISA), and Stephen Wilkinson (London Metropolitan University).
