Mexico’s Fondo de Cultura Económica Press has just issued an anthology of work by Martinican poet Aimé Césaire in Spanish translation. The volume, translated, edited and introduced by Phillippe Ollé-Laprune, includes poems, prose and one play (La tragedia del rey Christophe). It also includes an interview with the poet. In its review, La Jornada recommends the collection as a point of entry into the work of this poet who, as André Breton said, produced “words as beautiful as fledgling oxygen.”
