Singer, songwriter, and bassist Juan José Hernández, director of the group San Juan Habana, is happy to announce his new album La hora del té [Tea Time], which includes ten songs that he wrote and arranged. On Saturday, August 18, San Juan Habana will play some of the new songs at the Marriott Resort & Stellaris Casino in El Condado, San Juan, Puerto Rico, starting at 10:00pm.
Hernández, who produced the album with his own San Juan Habana label, says, “It’s a very special album. On this album, the group’s sound has changed a bit, but without losing its essence. It is a less traditional album. The sound tends to be more than ‘salsa band’ per se. [But] it is innovative in the musical sense because I’m merging genres. It’s an album full of cheer, varied, made for dancing, listening, reflecting. It’s for everyone, for salsa lovers, for romantic women, and even for men.”
When Hernández left Cuba, his homeland, and moved to Puerto Rico, he brought with him good musical experience, having studied in Cuba’s Higher Institute of Arts. Twelve years later, he feels happy and satisfied with the trajectory of San Juan Havana, the group he founded in 2006.
