Cuba defeated Puerto Rico 4-2 in the final stretch of the Haarlem Baseball Week tournament in the Netherlands, becoming the champion of the event earning a gold medal.
Lefty-throwing Norberto González threw 5.1 innings allowing just one unearned run, while striking out seven; meanwhile Puerto Rican reliever Benigno Cepeda took the loss. There were also great performances by Frederich Cepeda, Ariel Pestano, and Rusney Castillo.
Puerto Rico took home the silver, and earlier, the U.S. defeated the Dutch team 4-3, winning the bronze medal.
