Cuban Film to Open ALBA Festival in Belgium

The Cuban film Casa Vieja by Lester Hamlet will open the Festival of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA), which will take place next week in Brussels, Belgium.

Also being screened during the festival will be films from Nicaragua, Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela, all participants in the Venezuela-led initiative for regional integration inspired by Simón Bolívar.
The objective of this Festival, to be held from January 19th through the 29th, is to showcase the region’s film production and the cultural richness of its peoples, the Prensa Latina news agency reported.
The event, to be held at the Piano Fabriek cultural center, is a project sponsored by the Commission of the Flemish Community of Belgium. In addition to Casa Vieja, Cuba will be represented by La Edad de la Peseta, by filmmaker Pavel Giroud.
Venezuela, which will show the feature film Macuro, will close the event with the documentary Posada Carriles, terrorism made in the USA, about the Cuban-born agent of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).
