Clown convention provides Guatemala City with plenty of funny business

Step right up to funny town and leave your frown behind because the third annual Latin American Clown Congress has begun in Guatemala City, reports the website Metro.
Over 200 brightly-coloured clowns from North and Central America and the Caribbean have gathered in the capital of Guatemala to exchange ideas and attend workshops.
Young and old, all the clowns caused quite a stir as they paraded through the streets dressed in full attire.
And as these pictures show there was plenty of funny business going on with a clown couple even bringing along their newborn baby to join the festivities.
The comics all get on like a house on fire, it seems, but there are a few locals who tend to avoid the clowns out of fear.
Known as Coulrophobia, the condition causes some people to suffer severe anxiety just at the sight of a clown.
But for those of you who do not believe clowns can be scary, just ask a handful of festival-goers who planned to attend England’s very own Bestival in 2009.
They managed to convince organisers to cancel a clown-themed fancy dress party because coulrophobics expressed concern that an excessive gathering of clowns would cause widespread panic. daily times monitor
