The Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance (MISPAS) of the Dominican Republic reported a decrease in the number of cases of cholera earlier that this year generated a mass repatriation of Haitian migrants due to fear that they were spreading the bacteria.
The MISPAS reported in a statement that there have been no deaths reported for over three weeks and there are only 19 known cases of infection reported this week. A total of 10 people have died and more than 400 have become ill. The Dominican Government recently launched a new education campaign to educate people about cholera and prevention.
