In celebration of its 25th anniversary, Diálogo, the newspaper of the University of Puerto Rico, presents a panel discussion and screening—Sin Permiso: muestra de cortos de jóvenes cineastas de Puerto Rico [Without Permission: Screening of Short Films by Young Filmmakers of Puerto Rico]. After the discussion there will be a screening of representative shorts by the panelists followed by a question and answer session. This event will take place on Thursday, March 31, 2011, beginning at 6: 30pm at Blanche Kellogg Plaza in Ciudadela, Santurce.
The discussion will center on film production in Puerto Rico by filmmakers under 30. Panelists include Juanchi González (Los unos y los otros), Kaell Matías (Cuarto oscuro), Quique Rivera (Menuda urbe), and Ángel Manuel Soto Vázquez (22 Weeks). The conversation will touch upon the process of creation of independent cinema and how particular filmmakers have developed their craft with new technologies. The discussion will also explore personal aesthetics and the cinematographic language of each of these young directors. Once the case, it will be shown a sample of representative of each panelist shorts and opens a session of questions to the public, in which viewers can interact with the authors of each film.
The panel discussion will be published in the digital version of Diálogo, including biographical information of each speaker and a photo gallery of the event.
