A piece of land given to Rihanna [see our earlier report at Rihanna Receives a Gift of Land in Barbados] has caused uproar among politicians in Barbados, it has been reported. The plot, located in Apes Hill, was given to the singer by Michael Lashley, Minister of Housing and Lands, as a thank-you to the “Umbrella” singer for her success in helping to boost tourism on the island. But the Daily Star reported that the gift has caused a lot of tension.
Government Minister Gilne Clarke is said to be outraged as the land could have been given to someone in greater need. Mr Clarke was quoted as saying: ‘Why is the government paying millions of dollars for land for someone who’s already making millions?’
There has been no comment from Rihanna on the matter.
