SPRINT superstar Usain Bolt continued his golden streak as he anchored Jamaica to 4x100m victory at this weekend’s Penn Relays in Philadelphia.
Bolt clocked 8.79 seconds bringing home Mario Forsythe, Yohan Blake and Marvin Anderson in a time of 37.90 seconds in the USA against the World event. The Jamaican, who is the current 100m, 200m and 4x100m world and Olympic champion, helped his squad finish ahead of two American teams breaking the meet record by 0.02 seconds set by the USA last year. And the 100m and 200m world record holder believes the training the Jamaicans have done has put them in top shape and means they will be impossible to beat over the coming season. “I told the guys to make sure I didn’t have to work, because I really didn’t want to do much,” said Bolt. “I got the baton pretty much in front, so I wasn’t really worried about anything else and was confident I would cross the line first. We’ve been doing baton changes for two weeks and came here really focused and ready and we went out there and executed. I haven’t been here in a while but I was really looking forward to it and it was awesome. The experience was wonderful.”
Over 54,000 fans turned out for the meet to see Bolt and the USA Blue team of Walter Dix, Mike Rodgers, Shawn Crawford and Ivory Williams, who finished second in 38.33 seconds.
