The University of Puerto Rico-Río Piedras’ Museum of History, Anthropology and Art opens a new archaeology exhibition entitled “Artifacts: Indigenous Technology” on Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 7:00pm.
Artifacts made of stone, snail, and bone have been selected to offer a broad array of the old tools and fascinating techniques used in making everyday objects. There are also many pieces of great artistic value and/or ritual significance (cemis, daggers, dujos, and amulets) used by Puerto Rico’s Taíno ancestors. The exhibition will be a great opportunity to study indigenous society, get to know the technologies applied to raw materials, and enjoy the remarkable collection of archaeological pieces housed in the museum.
