The Dominican Republic will be hosting a World Summit for the Reconstruction of Haiti on April 14, to which Venezuela president Hugo Chávez will be invited, said Foreign Relations minister Carlos Morales. It followed a meeting of donors in Montreal on Tuesday during which the the international community pledged to help Haiti recover from the devastating quake for at least one decade and under the Haitian Government’s guidelines. Morales said the Summit will be held in the country at the request of Haiti president René Preval, adding that other presidents and heads of State will be invited, but didn’t specify names.
