The Management of Windward Islands Airways (WINAIR) would like to advise travellers that the company’s schedule has been severely affected since Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately the schedule was affected as a direct result of heavy volcanic ash emanating from the island of Montserrat.
Management was forced to make a decision as a result of this situation and resorted to recalling its aircraft to St. Maarten instead of its usual plan of action of leaving them on Sunday evening in Nevis and Antigua. In a situation like this, extra inspections are necessary before continuing operations; therefore WINAIR decided on this plan of action to ensure safety of passengers. The airline is exhorting passengers to be patient because it is probable that volcanic activity may further affect the schedule in the coming days.
